Presentations should

  •  inform 
  • educate
  •  persuade

Audiences learn from
  •  seeing, pictures, font, etc
  •  hearing, your context that is said
  •  and doing, notes
PowerPoint can include
  • Text
  • Charts and Graphs
  • Photos and graphics
  • Audio, video, and other sound
Rules for a good presentation
  • Keep slides simple and easy to read
  • state your purpose
  • Add images that support your point
  • Relax and use friendly style speaking
  • Don't just read the slides to your audience
Appropriate Coloring
  • Use light colored backgrounds with dark text
  • Use dark backgrounds with light text 
Appropriate Font Size
  • 7&7 rule
  • Limit your text
Peripherals
  • Keyboards
  • Game Controller
  • Mice
Organize your presentation
  • State your purpose: make it clear what you ant people to know
  • Present information in multiple ways
  • End with a summary

POIT Lesson 6 Peripherals


  • Peripherals are devices used for computer input and output Ex. Mouse, printer, keyboard, USB, etc.
  • keyboard reports each key
  • LCD and CRT monitors, touchscreen is input
  • a pixel is the smallest colored dot that can be displayed on the screen, more pixels = more detail
  • standard 1280 x 720  HD 1920 x 1080
  • three printers, multi function, scanner, ink jet
  • 3 1/2 in floppy disc to CD-ROM to DVD to Blu ray
  • external drives give users more storage options
  • tower cases have expansion bays, usually have at least one bay for an optical drive
